iVillage gets backing

Online content developer iVillage, New York, netted $12 million in financing from Tribune Co., America Online, TCI Interactive and venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. iVillage launched Parent Soup, an online community for parents, in January and will launch About Work, devoted to careers, in July. The company was founded by TV industry veteran Candice Carpenter and publishing industry veteran Nancy Evans with financial backing from AOL.
