KFC Australia seals three year $65 million contract

SYDNEY -- KFC Australia has awarded John Singleton Advertising a $65 million advert ising contract for its local chain of fast food outlets covering the next three years, a finger lickin' coup rare in the highly competitive industry. JSA has worked for KFC for the past seven years.

"By signing the contract, it gets other agencies, particularly the international ones, off our backs for a while," says Chris Mort, JSA managing director. "This way we don't have to worry about competition and can concentrate on the client."

JSA's hold on the Australian account has been under continual pressure from both Ogilvy & Mather, which handles the business in the U.S., and Young & Rubicam, which looks after other world markets.

Memorable campaigns JSA has created for KFC include "I like it like that" and a series featuring Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson.

Tricon, KFC's parent company, has also appointed JSA to consult on the local launch later this year of the Taco Bell chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants.
