L.A. is "Digital Coast"

Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan Feb. 18 unveiled "Digital Coast" as the name development interests will use to promote and market the region's thriving new-media community. Business promoters have been seeking a catchy name, similar to Silicon Valley or Boston's Route 128, to position the region as the new-media capital. New media employ 133,000 people in the area, more than in New York and the San Francisco Bay area combined, promoters said.
