The move from J. Walter Thompson is in line with Burnett's position as Reebok's global agency since 1993 and is partly as a result of Burnett's familiarity with new global technologies that Reebok plans to launch in India, says Muktesh Pant, managing director of Reebok India.
"We are most excited about the newness that Chaitra-Leo Burnett can bring to our advertising to make a meaningful connection with the Indian consumer," Pant says.
Burnett first forged a relationship with Reebok in 1989 when Leo Burnett Bangkok picked up the ready-to-wear clothing business. Footwear accounts followed in Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo in 1992, and a year later Leo Burnett Chicago was awarded the global creative. It was named global media agency of record in 1994. Burnett now works for Reebok in 24 markets in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Chaitra-Leo Burnett is headquartered in Bombay.
