Former Ogilvy & Mather Exec Tony Wright Replaces Jerry Judge

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Interpublic Group of Cos.' Lowe Worldwide has named Ogilvy & Mather executive Tony Wright its new president and CEO following weeks of negotiations, according to executives close to the matter.

He takes over for current agency CEO Jerry Judge, who will continue as CEO of the Partnership division of Interpublic.

Chief strategy officer
Mr. Wright is chief strategy officer at Ogilvy, part of WPP Group. He joined Ogilvy in 1995, after stints at Berlin Wright Cameron (now Berlin Cameron/Red Cell, part of WPP), where he was a partner, and at Chiat Day (now TBWA/Chiat/Day), where he worked on the famed Energizer bunny account.

An Ogilvy representative declined to comment on a successor.

Lowe referred calls to Interpublic representatives, who did not returns calls by press time.

Account losses
Mr. Wright's appointment comes at a tough time in the agency's history. Lowe has weathered a series of recent account losses, including HSBC's global work as well as business from Verizon Communications, Unilever and others.

Mr. Judge was named president of Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide following Lowe & Partners' merger with Interpublic sibling Ammirati Puris Lintas in 1999. He was promoted to CEO in 2001.
