According to the Volusia County Medical Examiner's office, Ms. Lowell died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Ms. Lowell had spent two years at the LPGA, according to LPGA Commissioner Charles Mechem. "Mary was a truly special and valued member of the LPGA family," Mr. Mechem said in a statement. "We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to know her, to work with her and to have had her as a friend."
It's not yet known if the LPGA has filled the marketing services manager post; an LPGA spokeswoman didn't return calls.
Ms. Nowell, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, came to the LPGA in March 1992 following a stint at Procter & Gamble Co.
A memorial service was held on March 18.
