MOSCOW -- Stinol, Russia's largest local producer of home appliances and a subsidiary of Italy's Merloni, has awarded its media and creative accounts to D'Arcy, Moscow. Stinol's annual advertising budget is $2.5 million.

D'Arcy pitched against Bates/Saatchi & Saatchi and Grey Russia. Stinol's marketing has been dormant since Russia's 1998 financial crisis.

Last year Merloni bought the Stinol factory, which has produced 14% of the refrigerators found in Moscow households. International brands ike Electrolux or Bosh have just a 1.5% market share, according to a Gallup survey.

Stinol plans a launch to break its TV and outdoor campaign in May, Stinol spokesman Oleg Iliyn said.

D'Arcy already works with Merloni in Russia on the Merloni Indesit and Ariston accounts. Merloni spent $8 million on advertising in Russia last year.
