Microsoft buys LinkExchange

Microsoft Corp. has acquired ad banner exchange network LinkExchange in a deal analysts are estimating to be worth $250 million. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1996, LinkExchange offers free banner exchange and other Web publishing services to small and midsize businesses on the Web. LinkExchange will become part of Microsoft Corp.'s MSN network, which includes travel service Expedia and auto-buying site CarPoint. The LinkExchange network includes more than 400,000 sites.
