Microsoft stakes claim as top Net advertiser

Microsoft Corp., which pooh-poohed the Internet early on, now claims it was the No. 1 Internet advertiser in the fiscal year ended June 30, accounting for 5% of an estimated $100 million in total spending. Exec VP Bob Herbold said Microsoft will account for more than 5% of the estimated $260 million market in the year ending next June.
