MLB's Murphy starts hiring marketing team

Major League Baseball's new top marketing and business executive, Greg Murphy, has made his first hire, luring Jim Masterson from CPC Bakery Cos., where he was senior director of marketing services. Mr. Masterson becomes chief information officer at Major League Baseball Enterprises; his first task is to conduct a massive research project to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the league and MLB's business organization. The data will be used to develop a new brand positioning and an integrated marketing approach.
