The broadcast networks continued to slide in week two of the 1995-96 prime-time season, dropping 9.2% to a 39.5 four-network gross Nielsen rating from a 43.6 rating for same week last season. All four networks were down for the week ended Oct. 1. The gross rating for basic cable networks rose 27.4% to a 17.9 from a 14 last season. Most other viewing sources were flat, with the exception of PBS, which was down 22.9% to a 2.5 rating. Season-to-date, the four broadcast nets are down 7.8%, PBS is off 32.4% and basic cable is up 23.8%.
