News Corp./MCI Online name editors

News Corp./MCI Online Ventures has hired journalists Jonathan Miller of The London Sunday Times and Lew Silverman of the MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour to head a production team dedicated to delivering 24-hour Web-based news. "The online news environment has to deliver immediate, relevant and stimulating programming," said Anthea Disney, editor in chief for News Corp./MCI Online Ventures.

Other position announcements include: Catherine Woodard to senior editor/news from news editor of Newsday Direct; Vivienne Walt to leader of cultural coverage from foreign correspondent at Newsday; Marc Appleman to senior sports editor from senior sports reporter for Sports Illustrated and the Los Angeles Times; June Herold to business editor from business writer at the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News; Don Winslow to picture editor from online manager and photographer at Reuters New Media; Betsy Freeman to political editor from producer for NBC News and WNET News in New York; and Sean Elder to senior editor for reviews from free-lancer.
