Red Herring Communications laid off about 7% of its staff the week of Oct. 23, as online advertising failed to grow as much as anticipated, said interim CEO Christopher Alden. The publisher of Red Herring magazine, which chronicles dot-coms and tech companies, cut about 25 jobs out of its 350-person workforce. The cuts came from the integration of its recent purchase of online charting and investment information company and the combination of its online and print editorial teams.
