BMW, Munich, is negotiating a contract with Carat to handle the carmaker's estimated $150 million to $250 million media buying account in Europe, sources said. Currently, BMW's media buying is handled by various agencies across Europe. Carat already works on the account in France. Client conflict problems loom, however, since Carat works for other car marketers in some markets.

Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, 38, to VP-publisher, Travel & Leisure, from VP-sales and marketing for the New York-based American Express Publishing Corp. title. She succeeds Ed Kelly, named president-CEO of AmEx Publishing June 5.

William E. Hooper to chairman, Trahan, Burden & Charles, Baltimore. Mr. Hooper previously ran his own independent marketing consultancy, and before that was president of then-named W.B. Doner & Co. in Baltimore. At Trahan, he succeeds Robert Matz, who left.
