Online community launched an e-commerce holiday area. Features include a Holiday Survival guide with 13 different commerce partners including: 3COM, Intel Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co. and Virtual Vineyards.

The Walden Group of International Venture Funds made a $1.5 million investment in San Francisco agency Lot21. Lot21, an interactive agency founded in January of 1998, received half of Walden's funds in April in its initial round of financing.

Home improvement site ImproveNet, Redwood City, Calif, named Charlie Whittingham, VP-manufacturer sales. Mr. Whittingham was formerly executive director of marketing at Wired magazine, San Francisco. ImproveNet also named Kim Hewson, formerly New York manager of Southern Accents, New York regional manager.
