Online community theglobe.com signed a deal with Gobi, which provides high-end PCs with unlimited Internet access for a monthly fee, in which Gobi will position theglobe.com as its exclusive community partner. Theglobe.com will be displayed as the exclusive community site on all Gobi desktops as well in its commerce areas.
Amazon.com opened two new distribution facilities aimed at speeding distribution to its Midwest U.S. customers. They're both located in Kentucky, one is based in Campbellsville, and the other in Lexington.
Sony Online Entertainment opened a San Francisco office, named two new executives, and promoted one employee. It named Beth Ellis and Sean O'Neal district sales managers, and Sarah Krasney formerly an ad sales coordinator, has been promoted to account exec. Ms. Ellis, who will start up the San Francisco office, was formerly a sales associate with Internet rep company 2Can Media. Mr. O'Neal, who'll be based in New York, was formerly manager, advertising sales for the N2K/Music Boulevard Network.
