O&M acquires largest Thai direct marketing agency

BANGKOK -- OgilvyOne, the direct marketing arm of Ogilvy & Mather, has acquired Thailand's largest direct marketing agency, Direct Express, for an undisclosed amount.

The new venture, known as OgilvyOne Connec tions, will specialize in telemarketing ser vices and database marketing under the direc tion of Khun Suttama Setchaibodi. Clients in clude KFC, Seagram, and Time magazine.

In Thailand, "there is still strong consumer development and expansion in the marketplace," says Mr. Suttama.

Miles Young, president of O&M Asia Pacific, adds that "announcing an undertaking in Thai land right now sends a clear and confident declaration to our clients and to the industry. We believe the fundamentals here are very, very sound."
