Omnicom agencies launch Olympics marketing agency in Athens

ATHENS--Omnicom Group-owned agencies BBDO Worldwide Athens and PNM Sports are combining to launch Millsport Athens, a sports marketing agency specializing in sponsorship for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games. Athens-based PNM Sports is a joint venture between Stamford, Conn.-based Millsport and Porter Novelli, New York.

Millsport Athens will draw on all BBDO Group agencies in Greece, according to Jim Millman, chairman-CEO of Millsport. "We want to be ahead of schedule in terms of client preparedness for the Olympics," says Tassos Prassinos, managing director of BBDO Group Greece. Millsport Athens' lure will be its combination of proven international Olympic experience and local integrated marketing services, he adds. A general manager is yet to be installed.

BBDO Group Greece's international clients include 3M, Frito-Lay, Mercedes-Benz, Sony and Wella. Millsport has worked on Olympic-related business for more than 20 years. Visa, Reebok and 3M are among its clients.
