Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, New York, elected Cliff Freeman, chairman-CEO of Saatchi's Cliff Freeman & Partners division, to its worldwide creative board. The Freeman shop also made the following staff changes: Richard Olsen was promoted to general manager from exec VP; Karen Evans was hired as senior VP-director of account planning from VP-director of account planning, Citron Haligman Bedecarre, San Francisco; and Peter Minnium was rehired from Dentsu/Young & Rubicam, Hong Kong, as senior VP-group account director.

Ogilvy & Mather Direct Worldwide promoted Wendy Riches to chairman-CEO of its Direct Group, overseeing O&M Dataconsult, Direct/Design, O&M Direct Hispana, O&M Interactive and O&M Yellow Pages. Those responsibilities were previously handled by Frank Parrish, who resigned. Ms. Riches had been president, O&M Direct's New York office.

John Clendenin, president, CEO and chairman of the board of BellSouth, announced today he will retire at the end of 1996. Duane Ackerman, currently COO and vice chairman of the board, will succeed him as CEO and president of the new company.

Annie Williams has been promoted to director of marketing for Newsweek, New York, from sales development director. She replaces Don Albert, who moved to Digital Ink, another unit of the Washington Post Co.

Glenn Rosenbloom, associate publisher of Us at Wenner Media, adds VP title.
