Sunglasses marketer Oakley, Foothill Ranch, Calif., hired Bill Daily as its first director of marketing. Mr. Daily formerly was VP-sports marketing at MasterCard International, and had been acting as an advertising consultant to Oakley since May.

Barry D. Briggs, 43, to exec VP, ZDNet, San Francisco, from VP-ad sales and marketing. Mr. Briggs will oversee four new divisions: consumer, commerce, business-to-business, and help, downloads and services.

Former Bates Latin America Chairman Daniel S. Reid to divisional VP-director of worldwide brand development, Polaroid Corp., Cambridge, Mass., a new post at the marketer. Mr. Reid, who left Bates in 1997, joins Polaroid from private investment company Dunbar Co., Greenwich, Conn., where he was chairman.

Michael J. Cleary, to exec VP-marketing, Wingspan Bank, a new post at the online bank unit of Bank One Corp., from president-chief operating officer for Smarte Carte.
