Pepsi-Lipton ads break tonight

The Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership launches an ad campaign tonight on broadcast and cable TV. "Chase," featuring actress Tia Carrere, premieres today while a second, "Tea Fall," debuts tomorrow. "Shaking," the third in the series, is set to air next Monday and pokes fun at Snapple and its labels instructing customers to shake the contents of the bottle before drinking. The spots were created by J. Walter Thompson Co., New York.

Viacom-owned MTV: Music Television and Simon & Schuster's Pocket Books are launching MTV Books, a publishing venture that will develop titles catering to the MTV audience. Book retailers and music and video stores will sell the new line. Subject matter will range from fiction to artistic photo books to backstage looks at the filming of popular MTV shows such as "The Real World" and "MTV Unplugged."

Radio Advertising Bureau, New York, reported first-quarter spot revenues for radio stations jumped 13% over the same period in 1994. National spot led the gain with a 23% rise, while local revenues rose 11%. Combined revenue for March was up 10%, with a 14% rise in national spot and a 9% lift in local advertising.
