PointCast expands network into Europe

Internet broadcast network PointCast today introduces PointCast U.K. and PointCast Germany. The European versions will contain 60 U.S. channels in addition to local content, which in the U.K. will be sponsored by British Telecom. In exchange, BT will distribute PointCast software to its Internet access customers and advertise the service on its Web site. PointCast also has versions of its service in Canada and Japan.

PointCast today rolls out data from Mediamark Research Inc. showing its audience to have more company buying authority and greater personal-investing and purchasing power than readers of the The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune and Forbes.

"We worked with [MRI] so we could arm advertisers with data that would allow them to compare the PointCast audience with that of print magazines," said Don Albert, senior VP-advertising sales and e-commerce at PointCast.
