Six stores will launch initially this year, including one in Davao City in southern Philippines. Mr. Jacinto says that, despite Asia's currency crisis, RadioShack remains a viable and profitable business, filling a void in the market for a convenience-type store for electronic goods. He also points out that RadioShack has virtually no competition.
Ventech has opened the distribution of the RadioShack franchises to all Filipino retailers. RadioShack markets its own brand of products.
