Reed Elsevier in Microsoft pact

Holding company Reed Elsevier PLC, London, and Microsoft Corp. revealed a $30 million agreement to help Reed Elsevier's predominantly business trade titles build electronic content platforms to reach audiences in the scientific, legal, business and travel information markets. As part of the deal, the company will use Microsoft Internet Explorer in its electronic products and build content brands on a Microsoft platform. Reed Elsevier owns Cahners Publishing Co., Newton, Mass.
