National Football League Properties inked a two-year sponsorship deal with office supply retailer Staples. The deal marks Staples' first foray into sports marketing, and the first time the NFL has had a sponsor in the office supply category. Staples is already sponsoring the NFL's Coaches Club, supported with media buys on NBC's broadcasts of NFL games.

New Balance Athletic Shoe signed on as a national sponsor of Sport & Social Clubs of the U.S., joining Anheuser-Busch, Brown-Forman Corp. and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. New Balance's plans include signage and product displays at sporting events, with retail tie-ins backed by direct mail and coupon offers.

PS Promotions, Event & Retail Marketing Specialists is the new name of PS Productions, a 20-year-old entertainment and event marketing agency in Chicago. The agency continues to specialize in retail and account-specific promotions for concert tours and other entertainment ventures.

Boasberg Valentine-Radford, Kansas City, Mo., won an assignment for local public relations and special event marketing for Harley-Davidson, which recently broke ground on a new manufacturing plant to be completed in 1998 in Kansas City.
