RJR boosts Greeniaus

RJR Nabisco Holdings Corp. is restructuring its top management team to remedy some of the troubles at its R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. unit. James W. Johnston, chairman of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Worldwide, loses day-to-day oversight of the tobacco business, becoming vice chairman of the parent company and a member of the office of the chairman. Nabisco Holdings Corp. President-CEO H. John Greeniaus becomes vice chairman of RJR Nabisco Holdings Corp. and takes over oversight of the tobacco business. Mr. Greeniaus also becomes a member of the office of the chairman, joining chairman Mike Harper.

RJR said R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. President-Chief Operating Officer Andrew J. Schindler will replace Mr. Johnston as CEO of the tobacco company. Douglas R. Conant, most recently president of sales and integrated logistics for Nabisco Biscuit Co., will become group exec VP in charge of Fleischmann's Specialty Products, LifeSavers, Planters and sales and integrated logistics.
