A 'dillo of an ad. This print ad, touting MasterCard as the "preferred" card of the cyberworld (now where have we heard that claim made before?) is perfect. It's not just an ad with an address tacked on at the bottom to make it look familiar in the world of the Web; it's MasterCard's first salvo in what is sure to become a major battle for online merchants' credit business. "No other card is more welcome on either side of the browser," reads the ad, created by MasterCard interactive marketing agency Modem Media, Westport, Conn. "MasterCard. Accepted virtually. Anywhere." Now that's what we call Web marketing.
