Russo leaves Rodale for new media startup

Susan Russo has resigned as general manager of Rodale Interactive, New York, to become a managing partner in an Internet startup company. A Rodale spokesman said Ms. Russo has not been replaced and that he did not know the identity of the company she had joined. A call to Ms. Russo's former Rodale number offered a message stating, "I've joined a new Internet startup venture as one of the managing partners" and referred calls about Rodale's online properties to other Rodale employees.

Ms. Russo joined Rodale Press, which publishes books and consumer magazines including Men's Health and Prevention, in June 1996 to run its Health Online Services division and manage a content venture between Rodale and AT&T Corp.'s Personal Online Services division. That venture ended less than four months after Ms. Russo joined Rodale when AT&T shut down its Personal Online Services division.

Before joining Rodale, Ms. Russo was VP-ad sales and strategy for Hearst New Media & Technology, overseeing HomeArts.

Rodale Web properties include sites for Men's Health and Prevention; the company's book division has marketed titles online with interactive shop Neographic, New York.
