Sears to become top advertiser on MSN

Sears, Roebuck & Co. has signed a two-year, multimillion agreement with Microsoft Corp. to advertise across the MSN network of Internet services. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed; however, both companies called it a "sizable online advertising program.''

Beginning immediately, Sears will become the largest advertiser on the MSN HomeAdvisor online real estate service ( The Sears online marketing program is designed to reach a broad consumer audience through banner ads, fixed placements, sponsorships and promotional advertisements across a MSN Web sites. Sears and Microsoft also agreed to co-develop editorial content for the "Home Ownership'' section of MSN HomeAdvisor. Sears began selling more than 2,000 major appliances online at its site in May, and also operates PartsDirect, a site that features more than 4.2 million replacement parts from 400 manufacturers for household items including appliances, power tools, and lawn and garden equipment. Sears' online advertising agency of record, OgilvyOne, will help develop the MSN online marketing program.
