Shell Oil Co. this month teams up with fellow National Football League sponsors Coca-Cola Co. and GTE Corp. for Shell's first-ever NFL sweepstakes promotion. The "Drive to the Super Bowl Sweepstakes" asks consumers to pick up a Fleer collectible football trading card that doubles as a scratch-and-win playing piece. Shell agency Ogilvy & Mather, New York, handles.

Kellogg Co. next month taps Grant Hill, National Basketball Association 1994-95 Rookie of the Year, for an on-pack promotion with its Frosted Mini-Wheats cereal. Consumers will get the chance to win one of 265 prizes instantly; a national sweepstakes is also included. The promotion is backed by a free standing newspaper insert dropping nationally midmonth, plus ActMedia's ShelfTalk coupons at point of purchase. Davidson Marketing, Chicago, handles.

Rubbermaid this month opened the door on its "American Home Celebration" consumer promotion, designed to drive sales of the marketer's home products while helping improve housing worldwide through a tie-in to the non-profit Habitat for Humanity International. The in-store promotion provides consumer mail-in rebates on Rubbermaid products plus a nationwide sweepstakes to win a $150,000 home; in-store and newspaper ads support. Rubbermaid coordinated the promotion in-house.

Outsource Promotions, LLC, Denver, recently formed a new distribution network for product samples, coupons and promotion fulfillment. Outsource Promotions will use the employees and services of sister companies Resorts Marketing and Pack Out Inc., specializing in custom packaging and distribution of consumer sample packs and promotional materials.
