Star TV sponsors line up for academy awards

HONG KONG--Star Movies has found a strong audience among sponsors for its live broadcast of the 71st Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on March 21 and the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, which will attract millions of viewers, particularly in movie-mad India.

The broadcaster has remaining air time for spots during the live events, but has filled all of the sponsorship openings for both programs. The sponsors--Anum Impex (Electrolux), Baron Electronics (Aiwa), Cadbury, Goodyear India, and Hyundai Motors India--will run their billboards and ad-vertisements during Star Movies' broadcast of the awards, as well as related program-ming: the nominations special on February 9, the post-Oscar winners' show "And the Award Goes to," the trivia program "All You Ever Wanted to Know About Winning an Oscar" and short historical vignettes, "Oscar Reflections."

The sponsors will also receive exposure during Oscar-winning movies which will air in February and March. Star Movies will also present the 41st Annual Grammy Awards honoring the music industry's hottest international stars on February 24 as part of the advertisers' sponsorship package.

The Star TV network, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation Limited, offers subscription and free-to-air television services across Asia, India and the Middle East.
