Symantec awards global consumer account to Ogilvy

Symantec, marketer of the Norton line of computer anti-virus software, has awarded its estimated $15 million to $20 million global consumer advertising account to WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather, Culver City, Calif., following a review, from in-house. Ogilvy is agency for Symantec's $40 million to $50 million overall advertising budget, which includes the global consumer account. Other shops in the review included WPP Group's Y&R Advertising and True North Communications' FCB Worldwide, both San Francisco.
