AT&T near decision

AT&T on Tuesday heard final presentations from its core agencies (FCB/Leber Katz Partners, Young & Rubicam, N.W. Ayer & Partners

and McCann-Erickson, all New York) to handle the marketing of its equipment company, which is to be officially spun off from AT&T in January. AT&T plans to name an agency for the estimated $150 million account by the end of this week.

Y&R's sister agency, Landor & Associates, San Francisco, is handling the naming and branding of the equipment company. The new name is also expected to be announced by Friday.
