Tele-Communications Inc. has ambitious plans to provide high-speed Internet access to millions of homes over existing cable TV systems. TCI Technology Ventures and venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers last week formed @Home, a company that will be based in Silicon Valley and headed by CEO Will Hearst, former publisher of the San Francisco Examiner and a partner at Kleiner Perkins. @Home has already set up a Web site ( and will begin deployment in at least two major cities early next year. Kleiner Perkins is a financial backer of Netscape Communications Corp., in which TCI recently became an investor. In other TCI news, cable TV veteran John A. Lack was named to the new post of CEO of the interactive entertainment joint venture of TCI and Acclaim Entertainment. Mr. Lack was most recently exec VP of ESPN. Also, Christopher Coles was named VP-general manager of TCI Online Services, from executive director-marketing and sales for U S West's Wireless Services Group.

Feed, a Web-based online magazine (, makes its debut May 10. The magazine, edited by Wall Street Journal new-media critic Stefanie Syman and Steven Johnson, a contributor to the U.K. Guardian, will feature a mix of high-tech and low-tech articles with a New York flair. Ad rates are $3,000 per month for a logo and hypertext link. New York Web, an interactive advertising agency, is housing the magazine on its server.

NBC formed NBC Digital Publishing, a unit that will tap NBC's broadcast, online and new-media businesses to develop digital publishing products. NBC said it already has 10 CD-ROM titles in development, most of which will reach the market in the next 18 months. Edmond Sanctis was named general manager of the unit, reporting to Martin Yudkovitz, senior VP of strategic development and NBC Multimedia.

Delphi plans to add more than 750 employees over the coming months as it prepares for a relaunch of its online service later this year.... CMG @Ventures, Wilmington, Mass., acquired a minority stake in ProductView Interactive, Cambridge, Mass.... Hyatt Hotels Corp. opened the World of Hyatt, an online information and reservations service, on CompuServe's Electronic Mall.
