Thursday is Ad Day in New York

New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who declared next Thursday, June 15, as "Advertising Day" in his city, is expected to be among the dignitaries on hand for a gala fundraiser at Rockefeller Center. About 1,500 adfolks also are expected to attend the evening event, with proceeds used for scholarships and related activities of local advertising groups. Host organizations include the American Advertising Federation, Advertising Club of New York and Advertising Women of New York.

Full text of The New York Times dating from 1980 to the present will be available online under an agreement between Knight-Ridder Information and the New York Times Information Services Group. Dialog and Datastar online services will distribute the service beginning during the first quarter of 1996. Under the agreement, Knight-Ridder will provide access on the day of publication to searchers worldwide, with North American customers able to access a 90-day archive of full-text newspaper issues and searchers in other locations able to access both full-text issues or abstracts of the publication depending on the publication date. Knight-Ridder will also compile online and CD-ROM "topical collections" of specialized news issues dating back to 1980.
