Tricon Restaurants International fills VP marketing, Europe post

LONDON -- Tricon Restaurants International has promoted Martin Shuker, currently U.K. marketing director with subsidiary KFC, to vice president marketing for Europe and Africa. Mr. Shuker replaces Todd Martin, who was recruited by Allied Domecq earlier this year to be its first global marketing director.

Mr. Shuker, who joined KFC from United Biscuits three years ago, will now also over see sister chains Pizza Hut and Taco Bell across the region. As U.K. marketing direc tor, he contributed to ad campaigns featuring celebrities such as Ivana Trump and comedian Ryan Stiles and the development of the Burger and Bucket strategies, which the company claims have delivered record brand growth.

Last year, Mr. Shuker introduced the Tower Burger, now worth $42 million in sales and he has successfully tested the new "Hot and Spicy" formula, launched nationally in the U.K. last month. KFC has sales of $420 million in the U.K.

TRI was spun-off from PepsiCo last August.
