Non-profit privacy group TrustE, San Jose, Calif., July 25 kicked off Privacy Partnership 2000, a grassroots educational campaign backed by a dozen leading Internet companies. They are: AltaVista Co., America Online, BrightStreet. com, [email protected]
, IBM Corp., Intel Corp., Lycos, Microsoft Corp., Persona, RealNet-works, Verizon Communications and Yahoo!. RD/Fox, San Francisco, created the $500,000 print and banner campaign to educate consumers about how to protect their online privacy. TrustE runs a seal of approval program for sites that fulfill its privacy guidelines.
