UDV predicts strong start for Ice

United Distillers & Vintners believes it could sell 10 million cases of its new Smirnoff Ice, a ready-to-drink 5% alcohol beverage, in the six months following its U.S. launch later this year, Diageo Group Finance Director Nick Rose said at a financial briefing today. UDV is a unit of Diageo. He did not specify media plans but said the brand could be advertised on broadcast TV networks and other venues where beer is promoted and that the networks appear to be softening in their opposition to carrying spirits advertising.
