Unilever to keep 30 brands in India

Hindustan Lever is cutting its brands from 110 to around 30 in India -- a market viewed as hugely important by Anglo-Dutch parent Unilever. The reduction in brand number -- keeping those that account for around 75% of revenues -- is part of the company's global program to intensify its marketing focus on 400 core brands. Before it began the plan last year, it had 1,600 worldwide.
