Univision cites record upfront ad buys

Advertisers made $425 million in upfront ad buys on U.S. Spanish-language TV network Univision for the 1999-2000 season, a record and up 42% from $300 million last year, said Univision Communications, Los Angeles. Univision said 79 advertisers, more than 10% new to Univision and Spanish-language advertising, made upfront commitments, compared to 62 advertisers in the 1998-99 TV season, Univision's second in the upfront market. It said returning accounts increased their advertising commitments by an average of 24% for the 1999-2000 season.
