VIDEO: ABC's 'Pushing Daisies' Is Odd but Haunting Show

New Fairy Tale Crime Drama Resurrects the Dead

By Published on .

NEW YORK ( -- In a really oddball and surreal twist on crime drama, ABC's new "Pushing Daisies" features a pie shop operator who can resurrect the dead. As his sweets restaurant hits hard times, he throws in with a private detective to bring murder victims back to life for one minute in order to interview them about the details of the killing -- and then collect the reward for solving the crime. Implausible? Certainly, but you have to see this one to really get how reminiscent it is of films such as "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Royal Tennenbaums." Media buyers like it because it is such a standout from mainstream network fare and also because its time slot and content make it very suitable for adult and children-focused ads.
