Virgin hits AA, BA

Incensed at the proposed marketing alliance of British Airways and American Airlines that would hold a majority of U.S.-to-U.K. traffic, Virgin Atlantic Airways on Wednesday breaks a national newspaper campaign from CMG Communications, New York. The ad features unflattering quotes by American CEO Robert Crandall, from Department of Justice antitrust reports of his phone conversation with a boss of a now-defunct airline. The ad also carries comments from Robert Ayling, British Airways CEO. The ad will appear in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
