A flood of publicity touting the holiday season release of "The Preacher's Wife" helped diva Whitney Houston snare the Cover Story prize for January.

The singer/actress attracted 11.5 points with five magazine covers, including starring roles on Good Housekeeping, Premiere and Us, and appearances on supermarket tabloids National Enquirer and Star.

Other celebrities scoring enough points to land in the top 10 for the month: "Evita" headliner Madonna, 8.5 points; young Colorado murder victim JonBenet Ramsey and "Crucible" star Winona Ryder, both with 8; newlywed John F. Kennedy Jr., 5.5; "Jerry Maguire" star Tom Cruise, "Baywatch" babe Pamela Anderson Lee, troubled Bull Dennis Rodman and talk show doyenne Oprah Winfrey, all with 5; and "Crucible" leading man Daniel Day-Lewis, "First Wives Club" actress Goldie Hawn and "Independence Day's" breakout star Will Smith, all with 4.
