'Woman's Day' hikes ad rates 9.8% for '97

Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' Woman's Day is boosting its ad rate 9.8%, one of the most aggressive jumps in the women's service field for '97. Meredith Magazines' Better Homes & Gardens is increasing rates 8%, but Publisher Alex Mironovich said, "We'll talk to our big customers and give them special consideration." Sister book Ladies' Home Journal is going up 7.1%, while Gruner & Jahr Group Publisher James McEwen said he anticipates a 7.5% to 9.5% hike for Family Circle and McCall's.
