Notes: After publicly held Ha-Lo Industries, a provider of branded promotional and premium items, reported its second consecutive yearend loss in 2000, it released a disposition plan this April indicating it is in negotiations to sell two of its three marketing services units to build cash reserves. The two include LAGA, Northbrook, Ill., a brand identity and packaging company, and Market USA, Des Plaines, Ill., a teleservices unit. Upshot, its third marketing services unit, will be kept. The sales are expected to bring $50 million. "It's highly unlikely that we're going to be selling Upshot in the very near future," said Ha-Lo CEO Marc Simon. Ha-Lo's three marketing services divisions account for about 15% of the company's total business. The promotional products division, Ha-Lo Branded Solutions, claims the rest. Ha-Lo CEO John Kelley was replaced by Marc Simon to return to Upshot, a company he co-founded in 1994.
