WorldCom markets AOL services to its customers

Published on .

WorldCom and America Online created a unique multiyear consumer Internet alliance under which WorldCom will market AOL online services to WorldCom's residential local and long-distance telecom customers, offering bonuses of up to an hour of free calls every month when they join AOL. Also, under the agreement, WorldCom will offer its existing residential ISP customers a special opportunity to convert to the AOL service. Other WorldCom residential customers, as well as small business customers, can receive a total yearly credit of up to $36, or up to $3 per month, on their WorldCom bill as long as they remain an WorldCom local or long-distance customer and become a new AOL member. The customers also get 500 hours of AOL free in the first month, with unlimited access after that, and $200 in member savings at the AOL Store.
