WPP acquires stake in Australian Internet audience measurement company

SYDNEY--WPP Holdings has taken a majority stake in Australian Internet audience measurement and research company IMR Worldwide.

Cooinciding with the move, IMR Worldwide has been renamed Red Sheriff. "Australia is our flagship market, and we are now well positioned for major global expansion," says Red Sheriff CEO Andrew Jarrett.

Red Sheriff is expanding its offshore operations with new offices recently established in London and Milan. Plans are underway for the company's entry into France, Germany and New Zealand by mid-year.

Red Sheriff's Australian client base includes such leading Australian Internet companies as Ninemsn, Pacific Access, News Interactive, F2, Telstra, LookSmart, Ozemail, Commonwealth Bank and Big Pond.

Launched in Melbourne in 1996, Red Sheriff provides clients with its proprietary technology, which allows for an individual page of a Web site to be monitored each time it is accessed by an Internet user. Each page impression is recorded and compiled into immediate data streams that are accessed via secure Internet sites.
