WPP posts strong 3q results

LONDON--WPP Group, which completed its acquisition of Young & Rubicam earlier in October, reported revenue of $1.03 billion in the three months to Sept. 30, up 21% from the same period a year ago at constant currencies. The growth was fueled by net new billings of $1.2 billion in the quarter, up 14% from a year ago, along with higher media spending related to the Olympics and the U.S. elections. Revenue from advertising and media services was up by almost 20%, information and consultancy was nearly 30% higher and public relations grew 45%.
