WPP Group is expected to announce today the creation of a new unit, Intuition Group, to handle Clairol business currently held by J. Walter Thompson Co. Lori Moskowitz, JWT
senior partner-management director on Clairol, will be Intuition Group's president. The setup will enable JWT to work for Clairol competitor Unilever on the launch of ThermaSilk haircare. It is unclear what Wells BDDP's status on both Clairol and other assignments from Clairol parent Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. will be after the new WPP Group unit begins operations. Executives close to the situation believe Clairol's Natural Instincts haircolor account, now at Wells, will move to the new WPP unit and that Wells may also lose its Mead Johnson and Vagistat business.
