Y&R Advertising will close its trend-research arm The Intelligence Factory at the end of this year. The company's chiefs, well-known futurists Marian Salzman and Ira Matathia, said their future plans are undecided at this time. The unit, formed in November 1997 as the Brand Futures Group, had about 12 to 15 employees. The unit was recently marketed with a trade advertising campaign. Also, Y&R Advertising has initiated a search for worldwide creative director. Agency President Linda Srere is heading up the intiative to find a successor to Ted Bell, who left this summer.
